II. Job Title: Court Clerk
III. Responsible To: City Manager / Municipal Judge
IV. Job Summary:
Under direction of the City Manager with additional guidance and direction from the Municipal Judge, the Court Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the municipal court. Maintains all court records; assists the municipal judge; assists customers on the telephone and in person. Receipts in and posts fines and payments. Assist other employees as needed.
V. Job Functions:
Communicate effectively and courteously with public, supervisor and co-workers. Receipt in monies and enter data in computer with accuracy; maintain records; balance cash and make daily deposit; and type correspondence. Must work well under pressure and maintain confidentiality. May be required to be a notary public. Keep assigned areas clean. Cross train for other positions and perform other jobs/duties as assigned.
VI. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Collect fines and bond payments
B. Make daily deposits and balance cash drawer
C. Maintain accurate court records
D. Process appeals, complaints and various other court related documents
E. File and retrieve documents
F. Court coordinator
VII. Minimum Skills Required:
A. Typing 40 wpm/10-key by touch
B. Computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
VIII. Required Education, Degrees, Certificates, and/or Licenses
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Level 1 Court Clerk Certification
IX. Experience, Training, Knowledge and Skills:
Municipal Court Clerk training; Level 1 Court Clerk Certification; two years experience in related field or any combination of experience and education to meet requirements. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be able to use tact and diplomacy and maintain effective relationships with others.
