FarrellAlexanderChief Farrell Alexander has been with the Gladewater Police Department since 1990. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle graduating from Wheeler High School. He attended Clarendon College , and graduated with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. 

In 1985, he started his law enforcement career as a patrol deputy and county jailer in his hometown, Wheeler Texas, with the 
Wheeler County Sheriff's Department . He graduated from the South Plains Association of Governments Police Academy in Lubbock Texas. 

He moved to Littlefield, worked for 
Littlefield Police Department as a patrol officer, served the department as, Crime Scene Investigator, Assistant K-9 handler, handling and training the drug detector dog, and was a member of the department's Swat Team. 

In 1990, he started with the City of Gladewater. In January of 1996, he promoted to Sergeant and supervised the night shift. Chief Alexander was appointed in 1996 as the department's Firearm Proficiency Officer. He is the Coordinator over the Reserve Police Officers overseeing the hiring and training of the Police Reserve Unit. In May 2007, he promoted to Lieutenant and heads the Criminal Investigation Division and Patrol Division. On September 13th 2007 he was selected as Chief of Police.

Chief Alexander holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate from TCLEOSE, and is a TCLEOSE Certified Police Firearms Instructor and Certified Police Sniper. He is qualified to teach all types of Police Firearms. Chief Alexander also holds a Combined Classroom and Firearms Instructor License from the
Texas Department of Public Safety Commission on Private Security . He trains and certifies armed Security Guards for several private companies in the East Texas area. 

In 2003, his fellow officers selected him as Supervisor of the year. 

The 
Gladewater Chamber of Commerce also recognized him in January 2004 for his creating and administrating for several years, a toy drive to benefit needy children in Gladewater. 

Chief Alexander was licensed 1996 as a Baptist Minister and currently serves at Memorial Baptist Church in Gladewater as Associate Pastor and Youth Minister. In April of 2006, after concentrated Seminary training consisting of 16 Seminary classes, he earned a Diploma in Pastoral Ministries, awarded by 
Seminary Extension on behalf of the six Southern Baptist Seminaries. In April 2007, Chief Alexander was ordained to the ministry by Memorial Baptist Church Gladewater. Chief Alexander has started and Pastored Mission churches and has been heavily involved in Mexico Missions, having made numerous trips to Mexico. In 1996, he started a mission work in the Gladewater Housing Authority's, Greenway Village Apartments. He worked inside # 50 Greenway doing children's ministry for about 2 years before making it a mission church with support from The Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Gregg Baptist Association . The church, named Greenway Baptist Fellowship, met in Gregg County's, Garfield Hill Community Center. 

Chief Alexander is also a member of 
The United States Civil Air Patrol, the Official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. He holds the grade of Second Lieutenant and is active in the Gladewater Corsairs Composite Squadron . He is the Deputy Commander to Cadets and serves the squadron as Moral Leadership Officer. He has been in Civil Air Patrol since 2004.

Chief Farrell Alexander is married with three children and lives in Gladewater. He enjoys teaching, shooting, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
