Mission Statement
The Gladewater Fire Department was founded in 1956 as an organization dedicated to serve and protect the citizens and neighboring communities around the City; being ready to respond to all situations at a moment notice.
Through education of the citizens and staff in prevention emergency operations, safety and ongoing knowledge to improve professionalism , the Fire Department will strive to gain knowledge in new technology to perform at the highest level possible.
The Gladewater Fire Department staff and members will always uphold the highest level of professionalism, traditions, fellowship and respect to carry out our duties to the citizens of Gladewater and surrounding communities.
Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it is too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, to guard my every neighbor and protect his property. And if according to my fate, I am to lose my life, please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.
