During the next several weeks, Schaumburg & Polk, Inc. will be smoke testing the sanitary sewer lines for the City of Gladewater. This work may start as soon as this Thursday 9/28 and continue for several weeks.
The purpose of the test is to locate leaks in the sanitary sewer system. If you see smoke coming out of the ground or out of the vents on the top of your house, DO NOT BE ALARMED!!!! This is normal.
A crew will be in the area conducting the smoke testing. When you receive this notice, please pour approximately one gallon of water down any drains which are not normally used in order to fill the trap. This should prevent smoke from entering your home/business. If smoke does find its way into your home/business through your inside plumbing, you should call a licensed plumber as you may have a leak in your plumbing that requires attention.
This smoke is NON-TOXIC and is therefore not harmful or a health risk. When you receive this notice, the smoke testing should be conducted in your neighborhood within the next few working days. Should you have any questions, call (903) 571-0010.
